The hours that come under the ECCE scheme vary depending upon the individual needs of the child and the kind of service that he/she attends. The services can be divided into daycare services and sessional services. If you enrol your child at a daycare service, then the child has to spend almost half or a full day at the centre.
The usual free year can be divided into a 2 hour and 15 minutes engagement on a regular basis. If your child remains in the daycare centre for longer than the usual timings, then you may have to pay additional charges.
On the other hand, if your child attends an ECCE in Dublin for a sessional service such as a Montessori, playschool or a naionra, then the school spans 3 hours each day for five days a week.
